A crime scene investigation, where the guests have characters, does not contain violence

England in 2064 is ruled by a conservative parliament put in place by the wealthiest oligarchs. The Labour Party is still alive, though, as its new star politician Alexis Libertine stands up against the unjust government with his new campaign. Libertine invites both supporters and adversaries to the opera to find common ground, but falls to his death from the balcony during the show. The news of a suicide start to spread, but are they just a manipulation from the media?

With a grim outlook of the future’s dystopian London, this Murder Mystery challenges the guests with the peculiar death of a politician. The real cause of death and possible motives can only be found by investigating the evidence carefully. Thankfully, the guests are not alone responsible for cracking the case, since a certain London based master detective and his doctor friend are there to help.

CHARACTERS

Each guest plays a character in the Murder Mystery. Most of these people were present when Alexis Libertine fell to his death, such as an incredibly rich oligarch, a self-absorbed noble, and a religious leader, almost selfleshly carrying the burdens of every citizen in London. Other guests are people from high society and corporations, vigilantly watched by an inspector from Scotland Yard.

DRESS CODE

Even though the events are set in the future, London’s current fashion has gone back to honor the Victorian era.

Dressing up for the Murder Mystery’s theme helps you immerse yourself in the story and we encourage such endeavors. Character sheets give some ideas of what the character might wear or look like. We want to emphasize that dressing up is not necessary, and the most important thing is to feel comfortable in whatever you choose to wear. What you can find from your own wardrobe is sufficient, but if you want to put in some extra effort, you might find what you need from costume rentals, flea markets, or party prop stores.

VENUE AND EQUIPMENT

The venue should have enough seats for everyone in case of a dinner, and ample room to mingle. At least one extra table is needed to place the evidence for the investigations. No need for a stage or an additional AV equipment.

TIPS & TRICKS

  • Acting or memorizing lines are not required when taking part in a Murder Mystery. No one is forced to exit their comfort zone. However, by throwing yourself into the story and your own character, you get the most out of the program.

  • If you normally need glasses to read, we recommend bringing a pair.

  • Conveying information and co-operating with other characters are the key to success in a Murder Mystery. Try to find characters you can trust, ally with, and share information with.

  • Each character has their own agenda, so don’t trust everyone.

  • If you feel stuck, ask the Tuoni Studios’ host for help. They’ll give you more tips on how to advance with your personal goals or solving the case.
